Dear ACES Students,
As your spring break winds down and you begin to transition to a new way of learning for the remainder of spring semester, we extend a few brief updates, well-wishes, and offerings of support from ACES Academic Programs.
First, your instructors have been communicating with you (or will be communicating with you) about each of your courses regarding how your online and alternative instructional formats will take shape for the remainder of the semester. Certainly, reach out to your instructor or to our office when you are unsure, when you run into obstacles, or if you just need some extra support, as well as the campus-level resources for student learning online.
We know this transition is challenging and creates some concerns for all of you. Please offer your grace and patience to instructors, as well, as this too is challenging for them. We are all committed to providing you with the world-class education you deserve, and we will continue to provide you with updates and services as the semester evolves. Please share with your family or others as appropriate in your daily lives that, although you may be learning in a different format, we strive to deliver the full content of the courses you are taking remotely. If individuals have questions about the nature of your learning experience, please direct them to ACES COVID-19 information. Helpful information can also be found on the University of Illinois COVID-19 website.
Regarding advising, ACES is committed to offering remote advising services and maintaining the level of quality and access you’ve come to expect from us. Department advisors will notify you about how they will conduct online advising appointments. These links will be helpful:
You can always receive college-level advising through the ACES Office of Academic Programs. Contact us by email using ACES-Academics@illinois.edu or via our online advising queue: https://queue.illinois.edu/q/aces-advising/. Lastly, we are transitioning all specific forms (petitions, ICT, add/drop, etc.) to online web-forms or fillable pdfs you can attach to emails to our office.
This is a challenging time for us all, but we hope to learn, grow, and innovate through this time with you to make our course delivery even stronger in the future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or to your departmental contacts for any needs.
Anna Ball, Associate Dean and the ACES Office of Academic Programs Team
